Becoming Jane: the moving that does not appear to be coming here.
This past week while I was in FL on business, I saw a trailer on T.V. for the movie, Becoming Jane, which opened in theaters on Friday. Let me revise that statement, it opened in select theaters.
I love all things Jane Austen and have many of her books. I was thrilled with the opportunity to see a movie that delved a bit into her personal life.
I flew back to my city, eager to purchase a ticket for a Saturday matinee. I was prepared to go myself while Oronzo stayed home with a napping Snuggle Bug.
Imagine my shock and horror when it slowly dawned on me that Becoming Jane was not opening in my theaters! I searched high and low online, in move listings for theaters all throughout my city. I found nothing!!
The one movie I really want to see is not showing here! What's up with that? It's not as though I life in a small town, like the one I grew up in that didn't even have a movie theater. I live in a major metropolitan city, for Heaven's sake!
I'm going to be sorely disappointed if I have to wait until the movie comes out on DVD to rent it through Netflix!
Has anyone seen this movie yet? Without spoiling it for me, did you like it or not?
Reminder: Don't forget to stop back tomorrow to enter my Pay It Forward Book Exchange giveaway. At this point, I have 4 other bloggers who will also be giving away books. They'll be linked in my post tomorrow.

You won!
I think I remember hearing on the TV ads here in Colorado that it was opening this weekend in select theaters and in theaters everywhere on Aug 10 (Friday). So check schedules for this coming weekend.
It's opening here, abit north of ya, on the August 10th.
So, if you're up for a road trip ....
I hate it when they do that! If you're gonna advertise it, please show it in every city, at least!
Hi! I'm hosting a Pay It Forward giveaway starting now and will do the drawing August 15. You can find my giveaway post here.
I LOVE JANE AUSTEN!
This horrible problem is always a problem here. We hardly every have quality films come to our area. I always have to wait for the dvd. I am so surprised you have this same problem.
It is heartbreaking to say the least. I am so sorry you are experiencing this tragedy.
Oh, my book exchange is up ☺
I had to drive all the way to Dallas to see it. I'm not a huge Jane Austen fan and I really enjoyed it. Gotta love Anne Hathaway.
I feel the same way about this movie--the only one I really want to see this summer (other than High School Musical2!)
I'm hopping over to the movie site to see if it's coming here...
Could it be that it is just not in your city yet? Maybe soon...hopefully! I thought it looked like a great one and am looking forward to seeing it.
Well here in OKC, we are not a lucky "select city", but the word on the web is it opens nationwide on August 10. Good luck finding it! I think it sounds good, too. I will let you know more if I get to see it.
aww sorry your city is not a release city :( Our town is so small the Blockbuster just closed down ...
I did see the movie Friday night - I enjoyed it. The cinematography was beautiful! There are mixed reviews on the movie and people that know more about Jane Austen than I do say it is a fictionalized historical account of her life. I would give it a thumbs up.
I think it shows at movie houses that cater to the "artsier" movies. Thankfully there is one 35 miles from here - we usually do girls night out there.
