I had a good conversation with Baby Bug's dad.
If you remember, I posted not long ago about the fact that the time is drawing near to let go of Baby Bug. I think the thing that has stressed me out the most is the thought of never seeing her again. I'd always wonder how she's doing and what she looks like as she grows older.

Last week I was on the phone with Baby Bug's dad, discussing an upcoming visit and out of nowhere he says to me, "We've been talking and if you don't mind, we'd really like you and Oronzo to keep in touch even after Baby Bug returns home."

I about fell off my chair when I heard those words and I wanted to cry in relief! I told him, "I've been trying to work up the courage to ask you if we could maintain some form of contact after Baby Bug goes home. We've grown quite fond of your daughter over the past 6 months!"

Baby Bug's dad told me, "You and Oronzo have been so good to our daughter, and to us, that it wouldn't seem right to get her back and never see you again."

Thank you, God, for answering my prayers! Knowing that Baby Bug's parents are willing to keep in touch with us after she returns home and will allow us to visit her makes this reunification goal so much easier now.

I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off of my shoulders!

Sounds like they truly are back on track with the parenting thing, by putting their daughters feelings above their own.

What a blessing for you!! God knows what we need!!

Our church is going to be starting a ministry to help families financially to be able to adopt. We have several who have adopted and that are foster parents.

You have touched this "bugs" life with the Love of God!!

What great news!

Thank you for the comment on my blog! My husband and I are just starting the foster process. We are waiting on our background checks to come back so that we can start the 6 week training that is required here in Arkansas. I am looking forward to following along on your journey=)

I am so happy to hear that. I don't think I could ever be a foster parent one of the reasons being that I couldn't stand to have to give them back and not know if they were alright or not and never see them again. It would be too hard. I am so glad that they want you to continue to be a part of her life. I think that would be reassuring on alot of levels. Praise GOd.

wow- what great news. I can only imagine how hard it must be to have a child with you for any length of time and then have to "return them" to their parents. Heartwrenching.

I've so hoped this would happen. As difficult as parting is going to be, this will definitely soothe a little of the heartache.

I'm so, so glad you'll continue to be part of her life. For her, and for you.
