Teething Pains
I think Snuggle Bug is working on getting his 2 year molars in. He's been saying "mouth hurt" and sticking his fingers in his mouth. He's also been running low grade fevers off and on. Considering he'll be turning 3 in December, I'd say it's about time these molars come in!
It's been a while since we've had to witness Snuggle Bug in pain due to teething and these last 3 nights have been tough. He wakes up frequently throughout the night, crying out in pain. We go in and try to comfort him the best we can, but it's not easy.
Last night I picked up my 28 lb. little boy and paced the wooden floors of his room with him in my arms as he snuggled up against my chest and whimpered in pain. I did the bounce-sway-shhhh-shhhh-shhh walk with him for several minutes, just like I used to do when he was teething as a baby, until he had fell back to sleep in my arms.
I hate to see him in pain like this and I'm not sure what's the best brand of medicine out there for his age to help sooth his teething pain. Any suggestions? Maybe I should call our pediatrician and ask.
Oh, by the way, I just want to say that I'm loving all the business names that many of you have come up with! I'm checking them all out to see which URLs have already been taken and which ones are still available. Unfortunately, many of the clever ones are already taken so keep those suggestions coming!
I'll announce on Saturday the name I've chosen for my new home-based jewelry business.
Thanks so much for all your help!

I feel a little blessed that W.W.'s teeth came in so easily and quickly. He's 26 months and already has his molars. We went though a period of crankiness and fevers that seemed to last for a month and then blip all his teeth appeared.
Now I can't remember the name of the product we used. Maybe someone who reads this will remember. I bought them at Walgreens, and are labeled all natural homeopathic. They are little white tablets that you dissolve in water and rub over the gums. Worked well for W.W.
I wish you luck and some more sleep.
Wow, can I relate! We're going through teething in the worst way (eye teeth are coming in)!
I'm hoping we both find sleep! ;-)
I love Hyland's Homeopathy teething tablets and gel. You don't have to disolve the tablets in water. Just pour 2-3 in the lid and then dump those into his mouth. You can also rub the jel on the gums, too. It will help with the immediate pain. I've used these for both of my kids. they work great!

Sorry to hear about Snugglebug's teeth. We went through the same thing with The Boy a couple months ago. He wouldn't take his hands out of his mouth EVER and he was waking up in the night too. I reverted back to the early days myself, though I didn't walk him up and down the hall. At 35 lbs. he's too much boy for me lug around, especially late at night. We cuddled up in the rocking chair instead and put on some soothing music. As for helping him with the pain, I just used Tylenol. I have never personally found that any of the tooth pain products worked for him. The whole thing passed quickly, though.. if that makes you feel any better :-)
My daughter has been cutting those 2 year old molars lately and what works best for her is tylenol or chldren's advil. She has been sleeping poorly for a few nights now and it finally clicked what was wrong and after giving her tyelenol before bed she slept the whole night (and even slept in a bit).
Good luck finding what works for you, I've never really had any luck with teething tablets or jells.
Teething is so hard ... Sending come in and stay in teeth vibes!
Hi Overwhelmed. I've been away from commenting for a while.
I had the sample problem with my daughter. Teething was really painful and always followed by fever and diahrea. I hope it all goes away soon
I used baby orajel and tylenol when both my kids were teething. combined it seemed to work well. by themselves they don't seem to work so well. Hope they come in quickly so you get to sleep again.
My son got his 2 year molars pretty late too. I always gave him Children's motrin before bed when he was teething. We still heard him cry out at night, but he stayed asleep and must have been in less pain.
Good luck. Hopefully they'll come in soon!
Good thing we can't remember those pains!
Teething stinks! In more ways than one. But fortunately, as my mom always said, "This, too, will pass." Just not quickly enough.
You've been nominated!
sorry to hear snuggle bug is in so much pain! I don't have any advice on the best meds for teething pain as Kayla did pretty well with teething - we used children's tylenol occassionally but that was it. Hope he's better soon!
Oh wow, I just hate babies in pain. Besides a little tylenol I don't recall what I did. Rock them, make sure his ears aren't what is really hurting as well. Hugs and prayers!
I like to use ibprofin along with the Hylands. The Hylands are great because they have chamomile in them to help the baby (or toddler) calm down and get some sleep.
