WFMW: Soup Exchange
Before I share my favorite brand with you, I'd like to mention that I'm offering a free sample of a Glad® SimplyCooking™ Microwave Steaming Bags going on. Stop by for details on how to win!
Now, on to my WFMW tip!
Not long ago I was reading through an old 2006 edition of Better Homes and Gardens magazine and I ran across an article on a group of women that gathered annually for a soup exchange. The more I read, the more I realized that I'd love to try to host my own soup exchange. I decided to invite some of my lady friends, asking them to leave the kids at home so we could have a "mommy play date". So I got to work designing invitations using Photoshop.
After designing the invitation to print out on cardstock, I decided I'd better type up an instruction sheet giving details on how my soup exchange would work. If you click on either of the images I'm providing, you should get a larger picture to see more details.
I made a list of friends to invite and came up with about 15 ladies. I narrowed it down to 12 and I'm sending out the invitations today. Now, 12 is probably too many to have at one time for a soup exchange, but I'm guessing that not everyone will be able to make it. I'd be happy to get 5-8 people max. I'm giving everyone plenty of notice by waiting until the first Saturday in November to have my soup exchange.
I hand delivered two of my invitations/instruction sheets and got immediate "yes" responses! Those two friends think it's a wonderful idea and are already plotting what type of soup to bring. I can't wait to see what the others think!
Note: If you're interested in hosting your own soup exchange at your place, let me know and I'd be happy to alter my invitation/instructions to suit your needs and email you the files so that you can print out as many copies as you need.

Wow, you are so creative and your invitations are so professional looking.
I absolutely love this idea. Yes, send me any info at all! Thank you so very much!
Hugs!
What a great (and healthier) version of a cookie exchange! I'll put this idea in my "books" for later reference. Thank you.
HOw fun! I'll have to read over the instructions. i think that would be fun.
I hope the business trip goes well. If you have time, you should for sure go and see Mama Mia. It was so great!
I saw that same magazine and thought it was an amazing idea! Thanks for reminding me. I may just have to host one myself. Gotta think about who to invite!
Oh, wish I lived close enough to be invited. :-) I may borrow your idea.
This sounds like a great idea, but I'm not having any luck with the link to the magazine article. If you could email your invite/instructions to me I'm sure I'd love to give this a try! Thanks!
I love this!! I'm gonna try it. I'd love a copy of the instructions as well.
I love this idea! But my family is soooo picky. I can make homemade chicken noodle soup and that is about all they will eat.
Drat!
I love this idea. How do we get a copy of the invitation and instruction? Where do we send you an email addy? Also, do you need the day and time for it or will we be able to customize.
