I've made it through to the other side!

With much trepidation and nervousness, I've finally taken the plunge and converted to the new Blogger.

I've been holding out for quite a while, worried that my beautiful Ireland design, done by Susie with Bluebird Blogs would get all messed up! I copied my template before starting and had Susie's email address handy, ready to send her a frantic message pleading for HELP if things went terribly wrong!

As I typed in the required information to make the switch, then hit the button to activate the switch, I sat watching my monitor with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

The switch only took a few minutes, thank goodness for that. When I got through to the other side, I cautiously walked through my blog, looking here and there for cracks in the walls or clutter in the closets. It all looks clear...so far! Oh wait, as Barb mentioned when she switched, All the comments you received from people with old blogger accounts before you switched convert to anonymous. It's a good thing I knew that going in. Thanks, Barb!

So, now that I'm here, what new and improved things can I do with my blog? I'm excited about the new labeling feature but other than that, I have no idea what I've gotten myself in to! Hmmm...does this mean I can go back and add labels for all of my previous posts? If so, that may be an all day project!

UPDATE: Okay, I've made it through labeling all of my January posts and have started on my December posts. This is more work than I thought, but it is kind of fun! The fun part is thinking of label names to use. I've come up with 46 thus far, and I'm thinking up more as I go. How crazy is that? What are some fun labels that you're using?

I haven't had time to explore since I switched a few days ago. But I do plan to find time to go back and get all my posts categorized. Seems to me someone said by clicking on a category in your blog they can pull up all the posts in that category. That would be nice for recipe and craft posts.

Other than half my comments becoming anonymous, I've had no problems. I tried to switch to Haloscan comments but they won't let me. They said something about the comment code in my new template doesn't work for them but I'm certainly not touching that!

Congratulations. Everything seems to run more smoothly in new blogger.

I was forced to switch today when I made my mini-post. It didn't give me a choice anymore. :o) I'll have to play with it to see what it's like, but must confess that right now, it's the least of my concerns. :o)

I'm happy your switch went well for you! I had the same feeling when I switched last week. Yes, you can go back and add tags to all of your old posts, I've already started working on that..it'd definitely be an all day project! ;)

I'm not sure what else you can do other than change your template with "pull and drop" options, some that haven't worked out too well for me yet. Hopefully they work out better for you! Keep us updated if you figure out something awesome the rest of us haven't! =)

I switched a month or so ago and haven't found to many things to be different. I did spend a little time labeling things (all my FIF labels, etc...). So, far things have been running very smoothly.

I am VERY happy your gorgeous photos remained in tact. I am looking for a spring-summer photo for my blog...keeping my eyes wide open.

Hugs to you!

I've been even more hesitant to switch after I found out most of the comments convert to anon! I don't know why I'm making a big deal out of it, but I would like to know who left the comments instead of trying to remember who it was (which I would never be able to do!) By taking the tour I didn't see much difference, I like the label idea - but you found a way to do that with the old blogger too :) I guess I'll just continue to stay in my comfort zone for now!
