For Kelli
Just yesterday, I learned about Kelli through A Chelsea Morning and BooMama's blogs. The short of it is that Kelli needs a kidney transplant and she and her family are wondering how they're going to make COBRA payments to have insurance coverage for this kidney transplant. They also need to be able to come up with $1200 a month in anti-rejection drugs once she gets a kidney.
Now, I don't know Kelli (I only heard about her a day ago) but I have full intentions of making a donation today through the PayPal account that BooMama has set up for Kelli.
Why would I be donating to a perfect stranger? Well, for one, it's being requested by two bloggers that I totally trust. I know this isn't a scam, this is legit.
More importantly, I'm donating because I want Kelli to get a kidney transplant and to have the financial means to make this successful. This hits home to me because someday, I may be going through the same thing myself.
You see, I had a kidney removed when I was 2 years old. It was badly infected and was making me very sick, so the doctors convinced my parents to let them remove it. They told them, 'Two kidneys is a luxury. If we remove it while she's young, the remaining kidney will grow larger and stronger to pick up the slack.'
Well, they were right, that's exactly what happened. But now that I'm in my 30's, my kidney is showing some signs of functionality deterioration. It's nothing too alarming yet but it's something I need to be monitoring on a regular basis.
So, if you have a bit to spare, please make a donation for Kelli's cause. And most importantly, please keep her and her family in your prayers.
Thank you!

I too am a one kidney gal myself (mine was removed because it had a cancerous tumor- Wilm's Tumor).
I'll see what I can pull together. I'm sure anything will help.
Thank you so much for posting this...and thanks for sharing about your own condition as well. Keep us posted on that.
And yes, it's totally legit. :-) We've already gotten it linked to sweet Kelli's acct. and everything. What she covets more than anything, though, are the prayers. The outpouring of love has been incredible....
Wow ... amazing cause and an amazing post. I will be sending all the positive vibes I can for that little girl and her family!
We will definitely keep Kelly in our prayers ... and you as well. I can kind of relate to all of this because I was recently diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease. It is going OK for now, but who knows what the future will bring.
thank you for writing about this, it reminds me of how it only takes everyone to do a little bit, to make a big difference!
Thank you for posting this reminder to everyone.
I had no idea, OW. I hope you never go through what Kelli's going through. I'll pray about that.
It's so wonderful to see Kelli's button everywhere I go this morning. I love what this community of sisters can do when we put our minds to it.
Per your (good!) advice, here's a 'hi, I came and visited.' how fun to see kelli's button at the top pretty much everywhere in bloggyland today. i love the pictures on your site - did you take them yourself?
I also posted about Kelli today, and I will pray that you keep that kidney of yours strong and functioning.
Hi there,
Wow, you know from personal experience about kidneys. Thank God yours is larger and stronger now!
I'm asking the Lord to completely heal Kelli!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yours is just gorgeous...LOVE your pictures!
Thank you for the comment! I love how you have all those photos down your sidebar. That's neat. :-)
OW, it is amazing, the outpouring of love and strength for a fellow blogger. Such a blessing to witness and be a part of and now we just need to keep her in our prayers.
I am sorry to hear that you have seen a bit of deterioration of your own in your only remaining kidney. I will pray that you remain strong. You are such a positive, sweet and uplifting blogger!
