We bought a new house last summer and when we moved in, we realized that we had more than enough cupboard space to store our pots and pans. I wasn't quite sure what to do with the pot rack that we had been using up until then.
It dawned on me that it'd be nice to have some hooks out by the pool, to hang up various items (i.e. swim trunks, towels, pool toys in a basket). So, I tacked up the pot rack to the side of an exterior wall near the pool to be used for this express purpose!
This works for me. Maybe it'll work for you too!

If thats what the outside of your house looks like the inside must be gorgeous. I love the idea, it would also be great to hang potted plants from it, although I don't know how exactly.
What a great idea and way to use what you already have. Now I just gotta get me a pool and a house!
that is a good idea...then the towels will actually dry....they aren't laying up against the wall but actually airing out!
Cute idea!
That's fantastic! And it looks so cute!
Great idea - and it looks so fashionable. Very ... Pottery Barn'ish.
"More than enough cupboard space...." I can only dream of ever being able to say that!
Good idea!
Great idea! And the pictures of Ireland on your site are GORGEOUS! Makes me want to go for another visit!!!
Great Idea!
Now THAT's a great idea! I wonder how it would work on my fence in my garden.
Ooo, I bet you could use one in the bathroom as well. With 6 people in the family (3 kids and 3 adults--my brother-in-law lives with us) there never seems to be enough hanging space in our bathroom.
Very creative, and it looks great and decorative also. Great idea.
Ha, what a great idea! I want some to keep stuff away from the Lil' Duck ;).
What a great idea, I never would have thought to use a potrack outside....awesome :)
Very cool! I can imagine all sorts of outdoor uses for the rack - gardening tools, hanging baskets, wind chimes...Very clever!
Fun and creative tip!
Just noticed your categories. You need to do a WFMW on how you do them. I haven't seen them done that way before. Is it easy. The way I do mine takes forever.

I love your blog! and your tip!!!!!
your pictures are AWESOME!
Wonderful idea! We just purchased a pot rack (unfortunately, I have very little cupboard space). If we move though, I will have a new function for it!! Thanks!
Hooks by the pool! That makes total sense! Thanks!
OK. Out by the pool? You have a pool? Sigh...
Since I don't, well this won't work. However, it WILL work in the garage somewhere. All those brooms and sweepers and things that have the little hook on the end - what a great idea for hanging them up.

Hi OW!! I love this idea! I think that it looks very cute as well....is it in a sunny spot? We like our towels to get toasty when we are swimming so we lay them in the sun!
This would be awesome!
Thats a great idea..I never thought of doing something like that, but it makes sense.
Super idea! Sometimes we just have think "outside the box"! :)
(I have a Wordless Wednesday posted...)
This is a cute idea - it's looks great on your wall outside! Great job of taking something old and turning it into something new!
Very clever!! I read an article once about this lady who goes antiquin' and uses the things she buys in different ways than they were meant for. You reminded me of that.
I love when people use things for purposes other than what they were intended. I love seeing how creative people can be like this one! Awesome. Laura
How creative and nice looking!
that's such a neat/creative idea! Glad you were able to find a use for your pot rack since you didn't need it in the kitchen!
awesome idea!!!
Very creative idea!!!
Cute idea. Wish I had the pool to hang it near!
I almost passed out at the words "more than enough cupboard space"--that alone makes it worth having my house on the market, just hoping that I'll get a house with an adequate kitchen!
This is a great idea:)
More than enough cupboard space... Do those words even belong in the same sentence?
very good idea OW. Ihavent come up with a good idea since I started freezing my paint brushes...lol
Very clever! I love things like this. I am currently working on a hat/coat rack out of Elk Antlers. I sure wish I was more talented ;o
What a fabulous idea!!! I'm saving this one in case we ever get a pool.
Could also be very useful for hanging garden implements near the potting bench.
I have that same potrack! I am going to spray paint mine white and hang it over Shaylee's bed, with some sheer fabric and use it as decoration. Kinda like those mesh canopys they sell at Pier 1 imports.
Thank you for visiting my blog. :) I like this idea...now I just need more cabinet space, actually I'd rather have the pool. :) He hee! I will save this idea for the day. :)
Great idea!!! You could also hang a black three tiered wire fruit basket instead of that plastic one so you'd have even more room for swimming goodies.
