Adoption #2, exploring a new avenue
I realize it's been a couple of months since I last mentioned our efforts to adopt a second child.
This past February, we notified nearly all our family and friends and asked them to keep their eyes and ears open for any potential adoption situations. We were hoping to do another private, domestic adoption where we were matched through a family member or a friend and only using an adoption agency for the Home Study process. That was nearly 8 months ago and we've had no matches, not even close.
After much consideration, Oronzo and I have decided to attempt to expand our options by exploring a new avenue as well. With much trepidation, today I placed a call to Catholic Social Services to learn more about their infant adoption program.
I'm not thrilled about going through an agency for placement, I was hoping to avoid this, but I'm worried that we're sitting here with no goal in sight by trying to adopt the way we did with Snuggle Bug. Being matched with his birth parents was nothing short of miraculous.
I have no idea if going through Catholic Social Services is the answer to our desire to expand our family, but Oronzo and I both feel compelled to at least explore this avenue and see how we feel. We agree that although adopting a newborn again would be nice, it's not a requirement. We'd have no problem adopting a child a year or younger. We just want Snuggle Bug to remain the oldest and we want at least a year between any sibling that he may one day have.
We had to leave a voice mail message today. Perhaps we'll speak to someone tomorrow or later this week. I'm nervous about this. We'll see how it goes. We have a lot of questions to ask them.
More to follow.

Wow. You must be so anxious - I really can't even imagine! You'll be in my prayers. :)
This is all very exciting. You must have so many emotions right now. I hope that you hear from someone soon so all of your questions can be answered.
OW I wish you and Oronzo well. I know how much you want another baby and what good parents you are. So lets pray that some lucky baby finds its way into your lives. It will certainly have a good home with loving parents and an adorable big brother!
Best wishes to you - I'm sure the waiting is really hard. It makes sense that you're expanding your options...
We used Catholic Social Services where we are to adopt Widget after starting with Bethany Christian Services. We liked both but actually, we plan to use a different agency this time because the woman who coordinated Widget's adoption is now on her own, and I know her group will really explore all the options with expectant moms (& dads), not just push for adoption.
Good luck!
You know that I understand this path all too well. I hope your journey is much faster! :o)
Wow, how exciting...
My husband's brother and his wife decided to adopt (they have no children currently) about a year and a half ago. I'm not sure how focused they are on the quest, but so far they are still waiting...
But I know when God places that desire in parents' hearts, there is probably the right child waiting as well that He has in mind!
Totally sending you positive vibes and hoping this new avenue brings you and your family what you want.
How exciting that you are moving forward ... even if it is in new territory!
How exciting! Many prayers for you on this new adventure. Most certainly God already has that little person in mind for you and will lead you two to each other. Hopefully it won't be too bumpy a journey.
Thanks for the update.
Praying for you that God will guide you and give you peace.
Praying for you and your family.
Oh my friend! My heart is so excited for you and my prayers will be with you on this journey! I look forward to hearing more about this new avenue...
I'm new to your page and have linked to you. It isn't as if we have alot in common! But your sight is very soothing and your words very encouraging ;). I'm quite new at blogger and will pray for these efforts that God will bless them and it is His will! God's peace to you.
I will definitely be praying for you. That is so brave. Last night some friends of ours told us they were going to Bethany Christian Services.
I know God will bless you all mightily!
It must be frustrating to not have any leads or anything panning out for you. I hope exploring this avenue of adoption will help lead to your 2nd child. keeping you both in my prayers as you go on this new journey.

Mercy moves mountains in young unwed pregnant girls, giving them faith based options. Pastor Joel Osteen's sister and brother-in-law adopted two children through this wonderful Ministry. He pastors the largest church in the US. Our prayer are with you in this wonderful endeavor! :)
As long as you stay away from ANLC and hold whatever agency you choose to high ethical standards, you should be fine. :) Hit me up with any questions!

My sister and brother in law adopted their son through Catholic Social Services as did a friend of mine adopt 2 children through the agency. No complaints from either of them. Best wishes.
Definitely ask lots of questions. And call LOTS of non-profit agencies. You know your ins and outs and I have no doubt you'll get hooked up with a GOOD agency, because you won't have it any other way. I will keep you guys in my thoughts.
I'm glad you're considering other options. Eight months is a long time to just sit and have nothing happening when you want another child so badly. I hope something happens for you soon.
good luck to you. drop me a line sometime. I do know a thing or 2 about waiting. It stinks, but the reward is great.
Adoption=born from the heart.
Its a wonderful adventure.
Wow! Best of luck with your search for baby #2. How amazing. I'll look forward to reading about it.
