WFMW (My-Calorie-Counter)
It's time to post yet another WFMW tip.
In light of the May Challenge, that I'd decided to join, I thought I'd share a neat calorie counting website. It's FREE, unless you decide to upgrade to their premium service, which I have not yet done. I'm still debating on whether or not to upgrade.
At My-Calorie-Counter, once you've registered, you can start a daily journal.
Within this journal, you can keep track of what you're eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. If you had a packet of hot chocolate, add an entry for that hot chocolate (you can get brand specific) and the site will automatically enter all the nutritional information (80 calories, 3 grams fat). By keeping this journal, you can see how close you are to the recommended 2000 per day calorie intake or the recommended 65 grams of fat (not to mention other nutritional targets). You can also track your daily exercise, water intake, and weight loss or gain.
By doing this daily food journaling, you can receive daily and monthly summary reports. There are even cool daily charts that offer pie chart views of your ratio of fat, carbs, & protein intake.
This site also has a "tools" link that offers things like a meal plan wizard, a BMI calculator, a conversion calculator, an activity exercise list, and much more!
There's also a "411" section that offers great links providing info for a healthier you! One of my favorite articles found there is titled, "The Simple Way To Control Portions".
All of this is FREE, but they offer some added features when you upgrade to their Premium service. 12 months is $35. I'm still exploring the benefits of the premium service before I decide whether or not to upgrade. So far, the free service does what I want.
So, go check out My Calorie-Counter. It works for me, maybe it'll work for you. To see what works for others, be sure to check out the other links at Shannon's, the creator of Works-For-Me Wednesday!
Note: This was not a solicited endorsement. The review of this website was given of my own free will, no kickbacks involved.

Thanks for the link! I've used Weight Watchers online, which I love, but I'm looking for something that I don't have to pay for right now.
BTW - Your masthead it's an Irish blessing. Gaelic is not a language or race. It is a GROUP of people which incorporates Galls, Scotch, Welsh, Irish and other Viking clans. They were also never Christian. You will find that the blessing is an American take on an old Irish prayer that was said in IRISH (As Gaeilge)... not Gaelic, as there is no such language.
Studies have shown that the mere act of journaling what you eat will help you eat less. So good tip.
That sounds fantastic! Best of luck with the Challenge!
This sounds like a great tool. thanks!
Ah yes... the pen and paper dont lie :) Thanx for stopping by the inn.. Maybe i should do up a batch of "lighter" chocolate chip cookies for you.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I posted a review on "wait until then".
Awesome book.
This is just what I was looking for, hubby and I are both trying to loose weight and watching what we eat, but I get so lost with calories LOL
Thanks for the great tip :)
Hugs,
♥Sandra
Gaelic most certianly is a language.
A quick google search reveals plenty of links on this.
http://www.ibiblio.org/gaelic/canan.html
"Gaelic is an english word for any of three languages which form one half of the Celtic language family group."
The group of people are the Gaels, Gaelic is the language which is still spoken today.
The masthead is an Irish blessing(still techincally Gaelic), and yes, Catholics are Christian. ;)
Good tip for weight loss!
Love the idea. Now I have to convince myself to act on that idea. Any tip?

I imagine that counting calories is like spending money, you never think you'd had as much until you get up to the check out counter and see the total bill. :)
That calorie counter is cool. I'm going to check it out!
