WFMW (Melt Down)
Before I share my WFMW tip, I'd like to invite you all to join me this Friday for my 4th of July Edition of my Favorite Ingredients Friday recipe exchange! Please help spread the word!
Now, it's time once again to post another WFMW tip. This tip I saw in a fairly recent edition of Parents magazine.
Instead of throwing away pieces of crayons, create new ones!
1. Melt crayon pieces in a mug in the microwave.
2. Arrange cookie cutters on a sheet of aluminum & pour the liquid into the shapes.
3. Place a glass on the top of the cutter after pouring in the melted crayons, to make sure the wax doesn't spill out.
4. After they cool, they pop out easily & your kids will love their new, fun-shaped crayons!
So, creating new crayon shapes works for me, maybe it'll work for you. To see what works for others, be sure to check out the other links at Shannon's, the creator of Works-For-Me Wednesday!

Very cool idea! I know all kids will love this.
Hugs!
Kat
That is a great idea, I'll have to remember that :)

I love this idea! I remember learning about it years ago as a preschool teacher, but I've yet to do this with my own kids! You've inspired me!
Hi OW
I saw your comment about the podcasts at Rachel's... if you like business, http://escapefromcubiclenation.com has good ones. These are my podcasts of choice.
Then I saw your cholesterol post... my suggestion is cut out all chocolate and creamy, fatty foods. Switch to fat-free milk, use fat-free cottage cheese instead of butter or margerine. Heart disease is the silent killer and affects 1 in 4 women.
Okay, off my soapbox now (I feel passionately about health).

That's a great idea
Thanks!!

Ok, let me just say - I am trying your last week's "how to get your husband to do the dishes" - can you write one for vaccuming... laundry... and bathroom cleaning?? Love your blog!! Love it!!

That is too cool! What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Great tip! I've done this before using muffin tins, but I've never tried the cookie cutter method.
Wonderful idea! I may have to borrow that one... Thanks!!
you can also use soap molds to do this. they sell them at places like hobby lobby and michaels
We actually have the Crayola Crayon Maker, which works great, except if you use cheap crayons they don't melt very well and since most of the old crayons don't have their labels on I can't tell the difference. I bet they would melt better in the oven, so I am going to try your method.
I've heard of this before and I think it's a great idea. And I wonder if this would work using the candy molds you can find at Michael's.
Your name is in the hat for the wedding favor giveaway over at my place so stay tuned - I'll post the results tomorrow.
I want to come live in the pictures on your blog! We're great fans of British authors ourselves. Austen, Rowling, Sayers for the ladies. Tolkien, Lewis, Jacques for the men. Blessings.
Have you tried pouring more than one color for a multi-color crayon? I remember doing this with kids at school years ago.
This is great! My kids will love it!
